FAQ
Everything you want to know before booking your EV charger installation.
Yes. While we're Tesla Certified Installers, we install chargers for every major EV brand — Rivian, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Chevrolet Bolt, BMW, and more. If it plugs in, we can set up a charging solution that works for it.
Not always. We assess your existing panel as part of every free estimate. Many homes can handle a Level 2 charger without any upgrade. If yours does need one, we handle that too — all in one visit, one invoice, one contractor.
Most home EV charger installations are completed in a single day — often just a few hours. If a panel upgrade is needed, it may take a bit longer. We'll give you a clear timeline when we come out for your free estimate so there are no surprises.
Level 1 is a standard 120V household outlet — it charges slowly, typically adding 3–5 miles of range per hour. Level 2 runs on 240V (like a dryer outlet) and charges 5–8x faster, adding 20–30 miles per hour depending on your vehicle. For most EV owners, a Level 2 charger installed in the garage is the right solution for waking up to a full battery every morning.
Most standard installations run $500–$1,200 for labor and materials. Outdoor, detached garage, or complex runs typically fall in the $1,200–$2,200+ range. If a panel or sub-panel upgrade is needed, budget $2,200+. Charger is not included — most customers supply their own, or we can source one for you. We always provide a free assessment and upfront quote before any work begins. Also worth knowing — the federal tax credit (IRS Form 8911) covers up to 30% of your installation cost, up to $1,000.
Absolutely. We install outdoor-rated EV chargers for driveways, carports, and detached garages regularly. We use weatherproof conduit and equipment rated for Pennsylvania winters. If your situation involves a longer conduit run or underground wiring, we'll factor that into your estimate upfront.
Yes — fully licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. We're also Tesla Certified, ChargePoint Certified, and a Qmerit Partner. Every job is done to code and inspected properly. You're covered from estimate through final installation.
We serve State College, Philipsburg, Clearfield, Port Matilda, Boalsburg, and surrounding Central Pennsylvania communities. Not sure if you're in our service area? Call or text us at 814-554-0350 and we'll let you know.
Yes. The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (IRS Form 8911) covers up to 30% of your charger and installation cost, up to $1,000 for residential installs. You claim it on your federal tax return for the year the charger was installed. Pennsylvania utility providers like PPL Electric may also offer rebates depending on your area. We recommend checking with your tax professional and utility provider — between the two, many homeowners reduce their installation cost by $150–$350 or more. IRS Form 8911 details ↗
It depends on your municipality. Some Pennsylvania townships require a permit for any new circuit, others only when a panel upgrade is involved, and some smaller townships have minimal requirements. Permitting is not always required. When it is needed, we handle the process as part of the job — and it does add some cost and time, which we always clarify upfront during your free estimate. Either way, every install we do is code-compliant and built to pass inspection.
We accept cash, check, and Zelle. We also accept Bitcoin.
Most Level 2 EV chargers — including the Tesla Wall Connector — require a dedicated 50-amp, 240-volt circuit with a 60-amp breaker. A NEMA 14-50 outlet setup also uses a 50-amp circuit. We size the breaker correctly for your specific charger and panel during every install — you don't need to figure this out yourself.
There's no hard limit, but distance affects cost — longer runs require more wire and conduit. For most attached garage installs the panel is close by and the run is straightforward. For detached garages or outdoor locations the run can be 50–100+ feet, which changes the scope and price. We assess the path on every free estimate and factor the run into your quote. See our outdoor installation guide for more detail.
It depends on your municipality. Some townships and boroughs in Centre County and Clearfield County require an electrical permit for EV charger installation; others don't. We check this before every job and pull the permit when required — you don't have to deal with it. When a permit is needed it typically adds around $100 to the project cost and a few days to the timeline.
Yes — the garage is the most common install location. Attached garages are ideal because the panel is usually nearby and the run is short. Detached garages require a longer conduit run and sometimes a sub-panel, but we handle those regularly. Either way, a garage-mounted charger is protected from the weather and the most convenient setup for most homeowners.
